£90k + bonus and benefits associated with a senior directors position

The Finance controller/ Director (FD) will be a key member of the executive Board and management teams, responsible for overseeing all financial strategy, planning, and reporting of the company. The FD will drive the company's financial and taxation strategies, manage financial risks, and ensure the financial health of the business. In addition, the FD will play a lead role in internal audit and compliance, particularly in respect of the business temporary labour pay and bill arrangements. An audit background and or experience in the recruitment sector may will be an advantage the individual holding this post.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Strategy and Planning:

  • Develop and implement the company's financial, capital and taxation strategies.

  • Key contributor to all business strategy and planning activities.

  • Oversee financial forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning.

  • Provide strategic recommendations to the business owners, the Board, and the executive team.

  • Develop a business culture of profit and loss ownership and accountability.

  • Drive profitable growth and profit improvement activities.

  • Financial review of all tenders for new business and contractual terms of new business.

Financial Management:

  • Lead the team responsible for the company's financial operations, including accounting, tax, and treasury.

  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

  • Monitor cash flow, banking, and investment activities.

  • Optimise the company's capital structure and funding strategies.

  • Negotiation of and compliance with key business contracts.

  • Procurement and service contracts for significant business expenditure lines.

Audit and Compliance Activities:

  • Develop a right first-time approach to weekly pay and bill temporary labour delivery
  • Ensure consistent and robust audit and compliance of all supply chain and outsourcing
  • Ensure consistent and robust of internal financial processes and internal controls
  • Manage all external audit requirements and responses.
  • Always ensure Taxation compliance.

Risk Management:

  • Identify and mitigate financial risks.

  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.

  • Oversee internal controls and audit processes.

  • Manage all business insurance arrangements.

Leadership and Team Management:

  • Active member of the Board/Senior executive team.

  • Lead and develop the finance team.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.

  • Collaborate with other departments to support overall business objectives.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Maintain relationships with investors, banks, auditors, and other financial and advisory stakeholders.

  • Represent the company in financial negotiations and discussions.

Operational Efficiency:

  • Implement and manage financial systems and processes.

  • Drive operational efficiencies to enhance profitability.

  • Lead on optimising business workflows and ‘right fit’ systems to support all operational workflows

  • Own all business system relationships and contracts

Qualifications and experience:

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified or equivalent.

  • 5 Years+ demonstrable experience as a CFO/FD or other appropriate senior financial leadership role.

  • Experienced of Board member, including demonstrable business strategy experience.

  • Audit and compliance background useful but not essential

  • Strong knowledge of corporate financial law and risk management practices.

  • Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods.

  • Strategic mindset with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience of IT and systems strategic leadership.

  • Experience of support services strategy and leadership.
